Volunteering as a parent representative at Regent College can be a rewarding experience.
In essence, the classroom Parent Representatives, or ‘Parent Reps’, are parents who volunteer to help build community at the class level. Parent Reps help other parents feel connected, included and heard. Parent Reps, in partnership with the College, oversee class group chats and arrange social events and gatherings throughout the year.
In taking on the role, we want to emphasise that a Parent Rep is not standalone and does not operate in isolation. Rather, as a Parent Rep, you are part of a team of Parent Reps (consisting of parents from KG-Y6) that represent the College within their respective classes.
Responsibilities include:
- To be respectful of everyone’s privacy and ensure that the confidentiality of teachers, students, and parents is always maintained.
- Welcome new families to the class.
- Communicate class and school events to encourage participation and engagement.
- Organise various and occasional social events.
- Organise at least one whole-class get-together.
- Moderate the class Signal Messenger Group (groups set up by the College)
While the Parent Rep role is ultimately about building community at the class level, it may take different forms (i.e., look very different) from class to class.

Are you keen to help foster belonging and connection at Regent College?
Express your interest in serving as a Parent Rep by completing the short form as soon as possible. Confirmed Parent Reps will be contacted and invited to attend the Parent Rep Information & Induction Session in Term 1, 2026.
Parent Reps usually serve a maximum of two (2) consecutive years in the role. However, this expression of interest is open to all parents, even those who have already served for two consecutive years.

We’ve listed some of the general responsibilities above, but in essence, it can be as much or as little as you want depending on your capacity.
A typical responsibility would be to act as a liaison between the class teacher and other class parents, disseminating essential reminders and information as and when needed.
The expectation is for parent reps to commit to a full year, but we understand that circumstances may arise that will make it challenging for parents to continue in that role.
In that instance, just inform the administrative office, and we will arrange for someone to take over. We’re happy to take recommendations.
It is essential to understand that you are never isolated or alone. You are part of a community of parent reps that you can reach out to for support and help.
Additionally, the College will work closely with you to provide guidance, support, and help whenever needed.
